He has prosecuted and defended white-collar criminal cases and            
political corruption cases, including the prosecution of a sitting
governor of Maryland.  For this effort, he received the Special Commendation for Outstanding Services from the Attorney General of the United States.  He has litigated civil rights, trademark, environmental contamination, whistle blower and toxic tort cases.  Mr. Hurson represents individuals and corporations before the Enforcement Division of the Securities and Exchange Commission (including insider trading and accounting fraud cases), before the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), and in matters brought by the United States Department of Justice and other federal agencies.  Mr. Hurson has also represented Special Board Committees in bringing derivative claims against directors and professional advisors (such as accountants).  He has recovered millions of dollars for his clients in these matters.


Mr. Hurson has taught and lectured on trial and white collar criminal practice and securities law at several national law schools and for the ABA and the District of Columbia Bar.  He has also served as Chairman of the Steering Committee of the District of Columbia Bar's Committee on Corporation, Finance and Securities Law.


Mr. Hurson received his law degree from Harvard University, where he was the commencement speaker for the graduate schools and a winner of the Ames Moot Court Competition.  He received his undergraduate degree, with honors, from Georgetown University, where he was President of the college student body.
